Just two ordinary guys with extraordinary vision…

Have you ever thought about what Dubai and Google have in common? We can’t say we have – until now, that is.

Sergey Brin, the co-founder of the search giant (and the 13th richest person in the world, just casually), was in Dubai on Tuesday, and met with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

While we’re not sure what the internet entrepreneur was doing in the emirate, the meeting was documented on Sheikh Hamdan’s Instagram. In the post, the royal drew parallels between the story of how Google came to be and Dubai’s own transformation into a city of the future.

“Today I met Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google and president of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc,” Sheikh Hamdan said.

He continued: “Sergey and his friend Larry Page founded Google from a dorm room and today the company is worth over $600 billion. Their goal is to organize the world’s knowledge and make it available for all.

“Sergey and Larry’s inspiring story is similar to Dubai’s story – we both share a desire to build the future. They created the future of knowledge; we created a model city for the future of urbanism. In cooperation with them, we can contribute positively to the future of humanity.”

Pretty cool, huh? One thing is for sure – we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Dubai. Enjoy your stay here, Mr. Brin!
