Sponsored: Toruk – The First Flight is set to stun visitors when it rolls into town on January 4…

Of all the must-see shows that descend on Dubai, it’s fair to say that Cirque du Soleil is the one production company that rules the city.

And the latest production by the Montreal-based troupe, Toruk – The First Flight is no exception when it comes to wow-worthy productions.

Taking to the the stage at Dubai World Trade Centre from January 4, the 18-show, 11-date stint comes complete with cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft, brought to you by Alchemy Project.

So, how does the plot go?

Inspired by James Cameron’s movie epic Avatar, the show transforms the stage into the stunning land of Pandora, a multi-coloured, new-world jungle where inhabitants, the Na’vi, live a peaceful, symbiotic coexistence with nature.

However, unlike the movie, Toruk – The First Flight is set thousands of years before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.

When a natural catastrophe threatens to destroy their very existence, two young boys on the brink of adulthood fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands on a quest to find the Toruk – a mighty red and orange predator who may help save their planet.

And what about the stunts?

Well, they’re as extravagant as you’d expect, and you can be sure that this production sends the traditional circus experience into a spin.

All the Cirque hallmarks are
on display here: gravity-defying acrobatics, stunning set design, faultless choreography and jaw-dropping stunts, with an all-new puppetry element added to the show.

Between the strength and skill of the acrobats and the dazzling outfits, you’ll want to head back again just to check you caught it all.
