Sponsored: How ‘cool’ is this?

Winter is our favourite time of year in Dubai – it’s cool enough to spend time outdoors, but still warm enough to go for a dip in the sea.

But do you ever wish you could swap the sand for snow and experience a real winter in Dubai?

Enter Dubai Garden Glow. The illuminated wonderland in Zabeel Park recently opened for its third season, and unveiled a brand new attraction: Dubai’s very first Ice Park.

Constructed from 5000 tonnes of ice, the park is home to a collection of ice sculptures, painstakingly carved by a team of 150 artists using chisels, chainsaws and even hairdryers.

You’ll find everything from dinosaurs to dragons, penguins to polar bears, and a whole section dedicated to frozen versions of Dubai’s landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and the Deira Clocktower. There’s even a Dubai desert scene, complete with camels.

It’s not just amazing to look at – it’s super interactive, too. You can chill out in a real igloo made from ice, or sit on a frozen throne.

The Ice Park is maintained at a frosty -8 degrees, but don’t worry – Antarctic-style jackets are provided before you go in (we do recommend you wear something warm on your feet though).

Other highlights that form season three at Dubai Garden Glow include a new ‘Magical Nights’ area, littered with illuminated animal sculptures and a laser effects and lights show.

There is also a #mydubai art installation, a ‘Sea World’ experience and a ‘Happy Forest’ sculptural installation made from recycled fabrics.

These new additions join the Dinosaur Park, and the existing glow garden filled with installations constructed from 10 million energy-efficient LED lights.

Dubai Garden Glow, Zabeel Park Area B, daily 4pm to midnight, Dhs60 for entry, extra Dhs40 for access to Ice Park. More info on website.
