After all, the weather is just right for topping up that tan…

Dubai has been enjoying a welcome few days of warmer weather, with temperatures already soaring into the 30s – and it’s only February.

So, we’ve decided we need a beach day. With no shortage of private sandy strips, luxury pools and plush cabanas to while away a day on, we’ve rounded up five beach days you need to try in Dubai.

Drift Beach Club

Drift might just be our favourite new beachside spot. Set in the grounds of the One & Only Royal Mirage, its whitewashed decor transports guests to a European beachside spot like Mykonos or Santorini. The menu is simple, with a limited menu served up beachside, and a more extensive array of Provençal cuisine available at the expansive restaurant. The idyllic beachside location is the peaceful place to relax through the week, with a more lively vibe dictated by resident DJs on the weekends. It’s also home to aquafit classes on a Wednesday morning, with prices from Dhs120 for a forty minute HIIT class.

DRIFT, One&Only Royal Mirage, Al Sufouh. Pool and beach open daily 10.30am to 7pm, restaurant open daily 12.30pm to 7pm. Packages start from Dhs250 for sunlounger with beach and pool access Sun to Thurs, Dhs300 Fri and Sat. Tel: (04) 315 2200. More info on website.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel

The beachfront at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel has undergone a refurb, and the gleaming white sands facing out towards the Burj Khalifa are now laid with rows of bright white loungers, cushy cabanas and even a beach bar. The service is second to none, and you can order a host of mocktails and cocktails to your bed or private cabana while you soak up the sun. The beach pass also comes with access to the pool, discounts on outdoor spa treatments and food and drink, as well as complimentary access to Wild Wadi. Head to the Beach Lounge for a spot of lunch – it’s a menu of international bites with everything from pasta dishes to burgers that’s served al fresco with stunning views of the Burj Al Arab.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah, weekdays Dhs370 including Dhs100 food and drink voucher, weekends Dhs580 with Dhs150 food and drink voucher. Tel: (04) 406 8800. More info on website.

Anantara

Anantara on The Palm has three huge lagoon pools that wrap around the rooms, as well as an oceanfront, 50-metre infinity pool with loungers that reach out onto the beach. It’s a great location for feeling like you’ve escaped the city, with a peaceful ambience that’s family-friendly too. Use these through the week or on weekends for Dhs265 per person. If you’re making a day of it, there’s also a swim-up bar with a daily happy hour offering selected drinks at Dhs25. Stop by the Beach House while you’re there – they offer an oversized glass of sharing calamari we can’t get enough of.

Anantara, The Palm, Dubai, daily 9am to 8pm, Dhs265 adults, Dhs105 children. Tel: (04) 567 8888. More info on website.

Summersault

The only way you can beat this beach club’s view of the Burj Al Arab is if you get on a boat. The new spot at Jumeirah Al Naseem is quite literally under the shadow of the Burj (don’t worry though, it won’t stop your tan game). The luxury club has a white sand beach, an infinity pool and music that’s just loud enough to add atmosphere. Go in the morning if you want to read a book, or head there in the afternoon if you’re after a livelier vibe. The food is a Mediterranean mix with a heavy Italian influence, and it’s only steps away from your lounger if you’re wanting to tuck in mid way through your tanning session.

Jumeirah Al Naseem, daily 9am to 6pm, Dhs595 with Dhs250 food credit back. Tel: (04) 366 7680. More info on website.

El Chiringuito

Bringing a slice of Ibiza to the Rixos on The Palm, El Chiringuito is known for its Nomad parties every Friday night, and its Saturday La Familia brunch which serves up Mediterranean vibes, an excellent selection of European dishes and some epic sunsets. But the beachside spot is also a great mid-week hang out for topping up the tan. It’s free entry for ladies through the week and Dhs100 for guys which is fully redeemable on food and drink, plus it’s usually pretty easy to bag one of the best beachside beds.

Rixos The Palm, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, 10am to 5.30pm, weekdays free for ladies, Dhs100 for guys fully redeemable on food and drink, weekends Dhs250 for all, closed on Mondays. Tel: (054) 449 6464. More info on website
