The light show will be dragon themed…

The world’s tallest building put on a record-breaking display to ring in 2018, so it’s only fitting that it would have something spectacular planned for Chinese New Year too.

From February 16 to 24, visitors to Downtown Dubai will be able to witness a new light and sound show on the Burj Khalifa that pays tribute to the thousands of Chinese residents in the UAE, and the 120,000 tourists who are expected to visit over the Lunar New Year period.

The show will have a unique dragon theme, and will be in keeping with traditional Chinese cultural symbols and traditions.

Here’s a taste of what we can expect:

You can now catch two new LED shows on the Burj Khalifa

The show will start with a flying dragon taking flight from the Great Wall of China, soaring high in the sky and over Dubai’s landmarks (including the upcoming Dubai Creek Tower), before marking a splash at The Dubai Fountain.

After a frolic in the fountain, the dragon will swirl up and circle the Burj Khalifa. At the pinnacle of the tower, the dragon will release a shining pearl from its mouth onto the spire.

The pearl will shine brightly on top of the world’s tallest building, before a ‘Happy New Year’ message in Chinese is displayed.

Sounds pretty amazing, right? You’ll be able to check out the shows at 8pm and 10pm every night throughout the celebrations.

We’ll leave you with a reminder of the Light Up 2018 show…
