Want to know which roads to avoid? Read on…

Hundreds of cyclists from all over the world will be whizzing through the emirate this week as part of the annual Dubai Tour.

The five-stage professional cycling tour, which attracts plenty of big names in the biking world, will hit the streets from Tuesday February 6 to Saturday February 10. And yes – it will mean a whole lot of road closures.

This video shows the entire route:

Cyclists will start the tour at 11.10am each day, continuing until 3.30pm. Each road will be closed to traffic for approximately 45 minutes to one hour to let the riders pass through safely (be sure to follow the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority on Twitter for the latest info).

Here is your day-by-day guide to all the road closures…

It passes through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, internal streets of Motor City, Al Qudra Road, Emirates Road (Sheikh Hamdan Complex and Global Village), Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road, Mohammed bin Zayed Road, First Al Khail Road, Hessa Street, and the service road of Sheikh Zayed Road.

Wednesday, February 7

Day two starts from Skydive Dubai and passes through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, internal roads of Dubai Design District, Ras Al Khor Street, Al Aweer Road, and Emirates Road, going through to Sharjah and then Ras Al Khaimah.

Thursday, February 8

Day three starts from Skydive Dubai and passes through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Academic City Street, Al Aweer Road and Hatta-Oman Road, going through to Sharjah and then Fujairah.

Friday, February 9

Day four starts from Skydive Dubai and passes through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Al Aweer Road and Hatta-Oman Road, going through to Sharjah, Fujairah and then Hatta.

Saturday, February 10

The final day of the tour starts from Skydive Dubai and passes through Umm Suqeim Street, First Al Khail Road, Meydan Street, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Tunis Street, and Al Nahda Street. The tour then continues to Damascus Street, Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Seef Street, Street 3, Al Fahidi Street, internal streets of Mina Rashid, Jumeirah Street, Al Thanya Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Safa Street and then back to the finish line at City Walk.

While the traffic is definitely a pain, the Dubai Tour is an awesome sight – so if you’re lucky enough to catch the cyclists as they come whizzing past, be sure to cheer them on!
