Dubai’s taxi fleet is set to receive an upgrade that will see smart screens installed in the back of the driver and front passenger seats of up to 700 cabs.

Similar in functionality to those found aboard aeroplanes, the screens will allow passengers to interact with a number of the RTA’s smart services on-the-go such as making card payments and booking tickets to local attractions, claims a report from the ARN News Centre.

Currently in a pilot programme, smart screens have been installed in 50 Dubai Corporation taxis, with plans to increase the number to 700 in the near future.

A spokesperson from the company who designed the screens says that “these screens actually will help all tourists and even people [living] in Dubai experience [the city],”
