The gig will take place at the top of the UAE’s highest peak…

The rocky ranges of RAK are set to, well, rock this weekend, with the UAE’s highest concert making its return to Jebel Jais.

From May 4 to 5, the country’s highest peak will be alive with the sounds of a Rock vs Classic concert, featuring the Moscow Symphony Orchestra together with Toto lead singer Bobby Kimball, former Chicago front man Bill Champlin, and former Survivor lead singer Dave Bickler.

Just in case you need a little refresher, these legends are behind rock anthems like Toto’s Africa, Chicago’s Hard To Say I’m Sorry and, of course, Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger.

According to organisers, the concert will also boast a “complex and sophisticated light show utilising cutting-edge technologies”. Just in case rocking out on a mountaintop wasn’t epic enough already.

This isn’t the first time Jebel Jais has hosted a gig – in October, award-winning Czech musician and film composer Michal Dvořák brought his critically acclaimed show Vivaldianno – City of Mirrors to the purpose-built stage set a dizzying 1,600 metres above sea level.

Tickets for this weekend’s concert start at Dhs300, and there will be an optional concert shuttle service for Dhs10 leaving from Ras Al Khaimah Chambers Building at 4pm.

Roads to Jebel Jais will be closed on both days of the concert, and only Jebel Jais Flight: World’s Longest Zipline and Via Ferrata ticket-holders will be given access to the peak.

Rock vs Classic concert, Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, May 4 and 5. Tickets from Dhs300. More info on website.
