It has 13 dining options, an interactive museum, spa and pool deck…

It’s been docked in Dubai for almost 10 years, now the legendary QE2 ship has finally opened its doors as a hotel.

The 13-deck hotel, which arrived in Dubai in November 2008, will be permanently docked at Port Rashid.

A grand opening is set for October 2018, but guests can already spend the night onboard the famous liner. Guest rooms start at around Dhs600, with rooms including breakfast currently advertised as Dhs650.

So, what’s onboard?

There are 224 guest rooms, an interactive museum, and there’s even been a restoration of the casino with its original slot machines now decommissioned. A spa and pool deck is set to open later in the year.

You’ll also find a theatre, cinema and 13 dining and nightlife options – including some of the ship’s original restaurants.

Traditional English pub The Golden Lion is quite possibly Dubai’s oldest, while The Chart Room is lounge and bar that has been restored to look exactly as it did when the ship was active.

The Pavilion is a family restaurant with an expansive terrace overlooking the marina, Lido is the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, and The Grand Lounge is a cabaret-style lounge with a weekly entertainment programme.

You’ll be able to enjoy afternoon tea at the Yacht Club, while the hotel’s signature restaurant is The Queens Grill, which offers a selection of British fine-dining dishes as well as a tasting menu that recreates a classic selection of dishes from 1969, when the QE2 first set sail.

The QE2 steamed six million miles, carried 2.5 million passengers, and was even sent to war during her seagoing career.

Its re-opening has been eagerly anticipated by maritime experts, fans and holidaymakers who have fond memories of their time on the ship.
