You can help brighten up someone’s day thanks to this cool initiative…
Remember how we told you about the amazing Ramadan Sharing Fridges initiative? Well, there’s an equally wonderful scheme taking place alongside it – and if you’re a dab hand with a paintbrush, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to contribute during the holy month.
The Fridge Art Initiative is looking for artists who are willing to donate their time and skills to turn the Ramadan Sharing Fridges into masterpieces.
The idea came from a group of friends in the creative industry who wanted to give back to the community during the holy month.

“I have been following the Ramadan Sharing Fridges together with my husband, and we’ve long been searching for the fridges to give extra donations when we can,” explained Fridge Art Initiative organiser Rosan Reodica Juan.
“What we noticed is that some of the fridges, while stocking up a lot of donations, weren’t that obvious. Or too plain. So we said, why not paint on the fridges? A donation fridge outdoors is a statement itself, so adding art to it will give it more life.”
Rosan said the group strongly believed art was the perfect communication tool to attract more food and drink donations.
“Also, as with street art in general, we believe having art on the fridges will help brighten up the day of the community workers who may not be able to encounter art on the daily,” she said.
“Art should be shared and not limited to galleries and museums.”
Rosan said the fridge designs will revolve around positive messages of hope, sharing, happiness, and Ramadan, as well as the Year of Zayed and its focus on tolerance and unity.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Want to get involved? All you have to do is email email@example.com. Artists will have to provide their own transportation to the fridges, as well as all paint materials.
How cool! We can’t wait to see all the colourful fridges around Dubai. Be sure to follow the Ramadan Sharing Fridges Facebook page and keep an eye on the #fridgeartindxb hashtag throughout Ramadan to see what the fridge artists come up with.
