It’s safe to say we’re spoilt for choice in Dubai when it comes to eating and drinking.

Award-winning celebrity chefs, the world’s tallest restaurant and cuisines from all corners of the globe are at our fingertips. But there’s still plenty more to come. This city moves fast.

Here is our ultimate guide to the upcoming restaurant openings you need to know about. Rest assured, we’ll keep updating this list as soon as we know more…

1. The Trophy Room

WHAT: This 75-seater sports bar will feature a total of 11 screens, and will be the first of its kind in town when it opens next month, offering guests an opportunity to listen to the sports match commentary in various languages with their own headphones. Expect a food menu of classic pub food, but keep an eye out for The Trophy Room’s ‘Go for Gold’ package, a set menu of edible gold bites.

WHEN: June 2018

2. STK, Downtown

WHAT: The second of three STK openings planned for the UAE (the first is already open in the Rixos Premium, the second is set for Abu Dhabi) we’re expecting this to open in the coming months. With a 240-seat capacity indoors, and a 100-seat garden terrace overlooking the iconic Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain, there’s sure to be plenty of Instagram opportunities when it opens. STK Downtown will feature STK’s classic menu, so expect the likes of an oyster bar, seafood platters and those signature made-to-order steaks alongside the brand’s signature upscale New-York décor.

3. Geisha House

WHAT: Geisha House, the Japanese restaurant, lounge & bar established in Los Angeles, Hollywood is set to open later this year. A mix of traditional Kyoto culture from 1920s Japan and futuristic projections for Tokyo in 2050, we’re set to expect traditional Japanese cuisine with contemporary trends, traditional techniques and live cooking elements.

4. Toyroom

WHAT: The next piece in the Soho Garden puzzle, Toyroom is opening imminently in the indoor section of the Meydan super complex. The London concept initially arrived in Dubai in 2015, taking up residency in the Al Murooj Rotana, but it closed its doors at the end of 2017.

WHERE: Soho Garden, Meydan.

WHEN: Summer 2018

5. Neos

WHAT: Reopening this summer as part of the extensive Address Downtown refurbishments, Neos is perched on the 63rd floor. The sleek bar will have floor to ceiling windows, allowing for some stunning panoramic views out across the city.

WHERE: The Address Downtown Dubai Hotel, Downtown.

WHEN: Summer 2018.

6. Andes

WHAT: Everything about Andes excites us. Fusing a casual-cool atmosphere with internationally influenced fine dining, it’s set to open in One Central, the new office development by Dubai World Trade Centre next month. Led by a team of friends with Michelin starred experience, it will focus on elegant breakfasts and quick, quality lunch service – with an initial dinner service being limited to invite-only tasting menus.

7. Taiga Dubai

WHAT: Lebanese party spot Taiga was previously housed in the M Hotel by Millennium, before popping up at the all-too-short-lived 7 Elephants and Drama nightclub. It’s set to make a permanent home in the Al Murooj Rotana, occupying the spot formerly occupied by Toyroom this summer.

8. Mohalla

WHAT: Atelier House Hospitality, a subsidiary of the award winning US hospitality group Altamarea is set to open two restaurants in Dubai this year. Their debut restaurant will be Mohalla, a homegrown eatery serving casual, home cooked Indian street food.

WHEN: July 2018

9. Marea

WHAT: The two Michelin star Marea restaurant, also by Atelier House Hospitality, is set to open its doors in DIFC later this year. With a projected opening in September, the New York export will serve up high-end Italian cuisine from it’s new home in the financial heart of the city.

8. Todd English Food Hall

WHAT: This super-sized venue by American chef Todd English covers an impressive 12,000 square feet. Serving up an international array of ‘gourmet food and drinks’, there will be no less than twelve open kitchens, so guests will be able to see dishes cooked right before their eyes. The food hall will be the third of its kind, following the openings of the first Food Hall in New York, and the second in Manila, Phillipinnes.

9. Dolce Sky

WHAT: A like-no-other concept is coming to Downtown Dubai’s Address Boulevard Hotel called Dolce Sky. Dolce Sky, which will occupy the hotel’s 70th and 71st floor, will be home to a bar, outdoor rooftop terraces (tough for those scared of heights), French restaurant La Vie, Japanese spot Takumi and Ellecti Lounge, a private, members-only space.

10. Avli by tashas

Opening alongside Mina Brasserie is Avli, a brand new concept by famed restauranteur Natasha Sideris. Sideris, who is already the brains behind the popular tashas cafe chain and the recently opened Flamingo Room is expected to open her third concept early this year. It replaces La Luz, which closed in Q4 of 2017 after just shy of a year of operation.

WHEN: September 2018

11. Masterchef the TV experience

WHAT: Set to debut in the Wyndham West Bay Dubai Marina Hotel, which will open later this year, Masterchef the TV Experience will fully immerse guests in the MasterChef TV show experience. The interior will be inspired by the MasterChef TV set, and diners will be able to choose from an ever-changing menu featuring popular original dishes conceived and inspired by contestants and champions from some 52 countries.

WHEN: Late 2018

12. Gaia

WHAT: Gaia will offer high-end Greek cuisine in DIFC’s Gate Village when it opens this October. Inspired by Grecian culture and named after the goddess of Earth, the menu has a seafood focus, influenced by each element of the Greek  region. Expect dishes from the Kalimata olive groves to the delicacies of the islands.
