The Irish star has performed with the likes of U2, Tom Jones and Meat Loaf…

Dubai Opera has already welcomed singers including Steps, Scouting for Girls and Rag’n’Bone Man, and it’s set to host another later this year as Irish star Imelda May has just been announced for a one-off gig.

The singer-songwriter will perform at the Dubai Opera on Friday November 2, with tickets starting from Dhs120 for early bird seats.

Originally from Dublin, Imelda May began her career in the early 00s. Over the last ten years, she’s recorded and performed with stars including Tom Jones, U2, Meat Loaf, Jamie Cullum and Kodaline, as well as releasing five studio albums.

Her popular hits include ‘Tainted Love’, ‘Johnny Got a Boom Boom’, and ‘It’s Good to Be Alive’. In Dubai, gig-goers can also expect to hear a collection of songs from her most recent release, ‘Life Love Flesh Blood’, which explores a variety of genres including blues, soul, gospel, folk and rock.

As well as being a talented singer, the Irish star plays the bodhrán (Irish drum), bass guitar and tambourine.

May is the latest in a string of performances announced for Dubai Opera this year. The line-up for the diverse Dubai venue currently includes iconic ballet Swan Lake, award-winning musical Ghost, Bollywood musical Taj Express, legendary Manchester house night Hacienda and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega.
