Celebrating the Year of Zayed, this initiative is full of cheer…

On Sunday, the day that the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan would have turned 100, the ‘Zayed Happiness Van’ was launched in Dubai.

Here’s what happened when we went to check it out:

The van is an initiative set up by the Dar Al Ber Society and will travel to new locations in the UAE every week.

Its first stop was a labour camp in Al Quoz where more than 800 people were offered free food, ice cream, new shoes and fabrics.

The idea behind the Zayed Happiness Van is to spread happiness among the people of the UAE, especially the underprivileged section of society, by providing them with a surprise meal & gifts.

Those gifts are pretty good too – one lucky man won return flights to India with Air Arabia when we paid the van a visit.

The van aims to continue spreading happiness every week for the remainder of the Year of Zayed and we think it’s a great addition to life in the UAE.

So, just like when the ice-cream van used to visit your street as a kid… make sure you help spread the joy when you see the Zayed Happiness Van passing through.
