The summer is here, and you’re going to need to cool off. So why not book a ‘daycation’, which means you can chill at a pool or on a lush hotel beach for the day, have a spot of lunch, or even head to a fancy gym, but you’ll pay less than half of what you’d have to cough up for a five-star night.

1. Drift Beach Club, One & Only Royal Mirage

Perfect for: A luxury escape where you might just spot a star
Price: Dhs250 weekdays, Dhs300 weekends, 50 per cent off for ladies Monday to Thursday.

We love a good sunbathing spot in Dubai, and this new luxury beach club looks like an absolute treat. Located in the swanky One&Only Royal Mirage, DRIFT is described as a destination where “luxury beach chic meets casual simplicity”. There’s an infinity pool, 1km of prime beachfront real estate, and a restaurant and bar serving up Provencal cuisine and interesting cocktails. Ladies can also get 50 per cent off entry from Monday to Thursday, but you’ve only got a couple of weeks to take advantage, as the venue will be closed for two months from July 1.

The recently crowned world’s tallest hotel offers a reasonable value pool access to the public on a daily basis. The open-air pool deck is located on the 12th floor of the 75-storey hotel, offering spectacular views over Downtown Dubai. The pool is 25 metres long, and has a four-metre children’s pool for the little ones. The price also includes access to the rooftop viewing deck of the hotel (which usually costs Dhs100)

Perfect for: Bathing under the Burj Al Arab.

The only way you can beat this beach club’s view of the Burj Al Arab is if you get on a boat. This spot at Jumeirah Al Naseem is quite literally under the shadow of the Burj (don’t worry though, it won’t stop your tan game). The luxury club has a white sand beach, an infinity pool and music that’s just loud enough to add atmosphere. Go in the morning if you want to read a book, or head there in the afternoon if you’re after a livelier vibe. It’s Dhs250, and includes access to all facilities, a welcome drink on arrival (non-alcoholic), fruit plate and complimentary water.

If a swan float is an essential prop to your swimming pool session then Azure Beach at the new Rixos Premium is the one for you. Climb aboard an inflatable toy in the well-sized infinity pool, or soak up the views from the comfort of your sunbed, with Dubai’s ferris wheel providing a most Insta-worthy backdrop. This luxury beachside destination features in-water loungers, Jacuzzis and inflatables, and spans across an impressive site on the Pearl Jumeirah that leads out onto the beach. If you’re feeling hungry, you can order one of their signature ‘sushi and ceviche boats’, which arrives, as you’d expect, on a wooden boat. But you’ll need to take advantage at the start of the summer, the venue will be closed for two months from July 1.

Perfect for: Family friendly fun.

This recently revamped beach club on The Palm isn’t the easiest to find, but it’s worth it when you get there. There’s a large pool that opens out with views onto The Palm, and a large patch of white sandy beach for those who prefer the ocean to the pool. It’s family friendly, with a poolside beach bar and lounge, and children’s pool for the little ones.

8. Zero Gravity

Perfect for: People spotting.

Zero Gravity Pool

Zero Gravity is one of the best for a party crowd: it’s the go-to spot for residents and tourists looking for a lively atmosphere, and the pool itself is huge. There aren’t many single loungers by the pool, but cabanas are available on a first come first serve basis. Throughout summer, the beach will be closed but pool and garden remain open – plus you’ll get your entry fee back in a food and drink voucher. Plus, ladies day will carry on throughout summer, just email them names for the Tuesday guestlist for complimentary entry for ladies.

Under the sail of the Burj Al Arab, Cove Beach is a lively beach destination for people who enjoy a party vibe by the pool. Big, brash and boisterous, Barasti is a Brit expat favourite, and quickly packs out with people. The giant top deck screens football and rugby, live bands perform at sunset, and there’s a daily happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. Plus, their pool is the perfect place to cool off, and stays open until late each night

The pool at this hotel looks out over the Burj Lake, and its loungers are nicely spread out under the shade of palm trees. When it comes to experiencing life poolside in the most luxurious fashion, the Burj Al Arab Terrace has to be one of the best in the world. A huge infinity pool juts out into the ocean surrounded on one side by plush day beds and over the bridge you’ll find another pool with a swim up bar. The pool at Andreea’s isn’t as big as some of its Marina neighbours, but it’s certainly one of the best looking. Head down early to bag one of the best loungers, or make a group booking and get comfy in one of the bigger cabanas towards the back. You get your entrance fee back to spend on food and drink, so it’s effectively free entry providing you purchase something. On Thurstday and Saturday, ladies can enter for Dhs125, with selected drinks and a lunch selection included in the price from 12pm to 6pm.
