The free one-day mini festival is a great place to check out hip local acts

Interested in checking out the best that the Dubai music scene has to offer? Then the annual musical showcase Fête de la Musique is always a surefire bet.

The one-day mini festival, organised by the Alliance Française Dubai, has in previous years spread out across the souk at Madinat Jumeirah, but will now call Dubai Opera its home when it throws the spotlight on a collection of talented local musicians on Thursday, June 21.

Kicking off at 7pm, the evening’s proceedings will be hosted by Jordanian-born-but-Dubai-based composer and guitarist, Kamal Musallam who has been a stalwart of Dubai’s local jazz and fusion scene for well over a decade.

Musallam will be joined on stage by a cadre of musicians across multiple disciplines that include symphonic pop, neo soul, gypsy jazz, rockabilly and world folk. A proper cornucopia of genres, you might say.

The full lineup of acts includes the Gypsy Swing Project, sister-duo the Healer Twins, the Eddie Misk Trio, and much-buzzed about indie outfit As per Casper.

Entry is free but your must RSVP via the Alliance Française Dubai website.
