The Fridge Art Initiative has been brightening up hidden corners of Dubai this Ramadan…

The Ramadan Sharing Fridges initiative is always a highlight of the holy month, and this year it’s bigger than ever, with more than 200 fridges dotted around the city.

This Ramadan, a group of volunteer artists joined forces to make the fridges even more special. They used their skills to turn some of the fridges into colourful masterpieces, to help them stand out and attract more donations.

Fridge Art Initiative organiser Rosan Reodica Juan told What’s On last month: “We believe having art on the fridges will help brighten up the day of the community workers who may not be able to encounter art on the daily.

“Art should be shared, and not limited to galleries and museums.”

Here are some of the amazing works of fridge art, which are showcased on the @fridgeartindxb Instagram account.

This striking fridge, located at at Mudon Rahat Gate 3, Cluster C1, Villa 1, is by Dubai artist @fink.22.

The artist said he even underwent a fast during the day to try and understand what it must be like for the labourers working in the extreme heat.

“Needless to say it was hard going, with the dehydration being the toughest part,” he said.

This colourful fridge, located at the Dubai English Speaking School in Oud Metha, is by urban and visual artist @depiktdxb.

Here’s another cool one by the same artist, located at the XDubai Skatepark at Kite Beach.

How pretty is this fridge? It’s located at Springs 5, Street 1 Villa 25, and is by artist and interior designer @tulimond.
