270-degree movies, meteor showers, tasting menus and more…

Whether it’s a ladies’ night tasting menu, meteor shower, experiential cinema or staycay, we’ve packed this week with loads of fun things. Oh and don’t forget coffee for Dhs2. Where, you ask? Well read on…

Here are eight things to do in Dubai this week.

Sunday August 12

1. Tuck in to a new ladies’ night offer

There’s a new ladies’ night deal to tuck into every Sunday at DIFC’s seafood spot, Crazy Fish. Priced at Dhs195 per lady, it’s a specially designed tasting menu along with two house beverages per person, or a bottle of wine between two.

Al Fattan Currency House, DIFC, Dubai, 7pm to 2am, Sundays, Dhs195. Tel: (04) 352 9429. facebook.com/crazyfishdubai

2. See a stunning meteor shower

The Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the most reliable and visible meteor showers of the year, and it’s expected to be most visible tonight, on Sunday August 12. If you fancy catching the shower with some experts, The Dubai Astronomy group will be hosting a viewing at Al Qudra desert. From 10pm until the early hours, tickets to the viewing party are priced at Dhs150 for adults and Dhs70 for children. Included in the ticket is an educational presentation about the event, both telescopic and naked eye observation, a video show and the chance to ask your questions to the experts.

3. Check out a new film at the UAE’s first immersive cinema

The UAE’s first ScreenX is now open at Dubai Mall. The 170-seater cinema sees the panoramic screen wrap round the walls either sides of cinema seats, leaving movie-goers feeling like they’re inside the film. Currently, the cinema is showing recent release The Meg in 270-degree, with tickets for ScreenX priced at Dhs68 per ticket, and ScreenX plus (the more leg roomy seats towards the back), priced at Dhs78.75. Not all parts of the movie are shown in the panoramic style, with around 50 minutes of the 113-minute running time shown in 270-degree.
