It’s fabaaulous…

When settling down for a family meal over the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday what sort of dessert would you typically hope to tuck into after the main course? Probably a delicious sheer khurma or baklava. Sounds standard.

What you wouldn’t expect is a cake made in the image of a life-size sheep, sprinkled with 22k edible gold. How very Dubai…

Online gifting site joigifts.com together with Jumeirah-based Chateau Blanc have created what just might be the ultimate Eid confectionary. This thing is pretty epic. Completely handcrafted over 75 man-hours, it weighs 19kg, is a full metre in height and can serve roughly 75 people.

Of course it doesn’t come cheap – that 22k edible gold is complimented with only the finest pure Belgian chocolate and will set you back a cool Dhs9,500. Ouch.

You can feel good about blowing that kind of money on it, however, as in the true spirit of Eid all proceeds from the sold cakes will be donated to the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation in support of orphans.

You can watch it being put together in the video below:
