With Dubai finally cooling down, we’re packing in as many outdoor activities as we can. So with that said, there’s a new beach club to check out this weekend, as well as the season opening of one of our favourites. Elsewhere a new ladies’ night launches at a superclub, while an open-air stalwart hosts three big name stars, a free fitness bootcamp takes to the beach and there’s dinner deals at some top alfresco spots.

Thursday October 4

1. Dig out your lederhosen for an Oktoberfest celebration

Two days of Bavarian madness come to Dubai Sports City this weekend Thursday October 4 and Friday October 5. Held at the fully air-conditioned Dome in Dubai Sports City, it promises happy hour deals, a variety of food stations and lots of entertainment options including original Bavarian band “Die Derbys” back for their eighth year. 2. Catch an American star at a ladies’ night

Meydan super club White Dubai is flying in American R&B star August Alsina this Thursday October 4. The Benediction hitmaker will headline the clubs weekly ‘Disturbing’ night this week, where ladies’ will also be treated to unlimited complimentary drinks until 1am.

3. Get your hands on a free coffee

Slightly after International Coffee Day, Arrows and Sparrows is giving away free coffee to customers on Thursday, October 4th, to celebrate their birthday. Customers can drop in any time between 8am and 10pm for a free brew.

4. Perfect your swing at a golf event

The annual Golf Digest Middle East Amateur Golf Series is back, and this week it’s at The Els Club. The winners of the respective men’s A (0-10 handicap), B (11-24 max) and women’s divisions will automatically qualify for the 11th Golf Digest Middle East Classic, which will take place at Emirates Golf Club on October 16 – and there are some great prizes up for grabs. 5. Dine across the city for less

Neighbouring Mina Seyahi hotels The Westin and Le Meridien Mina Seyahi have joined forces to offer a week-long ‘Restaurant and Grape Week’ this week. Running until Saturday October 6, they’ll be offering set menus for Dhs150 or Dhs210 paired with some great wine deals including selected glasses from Dhs35 and selected bottles priced at Dhs150. 6. Party at a new party brunch

The Lollipop brunch is a new party brunch found in Andreea’s restaurant in the Habtoor Grand. Running from 1pm to 4pm, expect a buffet of internationally influenced dishes, free flowing beverages, pun-tastic signs and shot shows.

7. Tuck into a new Robata night

Pan Asian hotspot Zengo in Le Royal Meridien is launching a new Friday Robata night this week. Priced at Dhs198 per person, guests can enjoy unlimited bites from the Robata menu, which includes Yuzu Prawns and Buffalo Chicken Wings as well as a welcome drink. There will also be a special menu of Dhs35 cocktails thereafter.

8. Party hard at the season opening of Zero Gravity

Drum n Bass heavyweights Sigma are back on the shores of our award-winning beach club Zero Gravity to open the exciting season this year. The chart-topping duo were last at the beach club to ring in 2018 for their annual New Year’s bash, so we can’t wait to see what they bring to their gig this weekend.

9. Head to a free fitness bootcamp

Fitness In DXB, the region’s first community fitness group, are launching the Big Beach Bootcamp for the winter, and the first action-packed workout will be on Friday 5th October. Starting at 8.30am (arrive 8.15am), the 60-minute high intensity workout on City Beach is a full body workout with a combination of cardio and resistance training, including running, jumping and lifting weights.

10. Sing along to some swing hits

An evening dedicated to the soulful sounds of swing music is making its way to the Madinat Theatre this Friday October 5. At ‘Morning Melodies’, expect to sing along to family-friendly hits from legends including Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra performed by Dutch singer Wim Hoste.

11. Top up your tan at a new beach club

As we said goodbye to El Chiringuito in September, we’re set to say hello to a brand new beach club, Playa Nomade in its place, from October 5. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, the beach club will offer up a lively party vibe with a stripped back, nomadic vibe. Expect a weekly day-to-night Friday party, Saturday brunch and Sunday ladies’ day. This Friday, the inimitable Rony Seikaly headlines.

12. Test your sports knowledge with a pub quiz

One for the sports fans, Barrel 12 on The Palm dedicates its Saturday afternoons to testing your knowledge on all things sport. Running from 1pm to 3pm, the free entry quiz is hosted by DJ Danny Leese, and comes with prizes including brunch for four, beer buckets or a dinner cruise for two.

13. Try your hand at a calligraphy workshop

One of Dubai’s most talented calligraphers, Wissam Shakwat, will lead a calligraphy workshop on how to master the types of script used by the Ottoman Sultan Jali Diwani over a four day course. It kicks off this Saturday, and runs every Saturday for the rest of the month, and offers both theoretical taeaching and practical learning, and will conclude with a final piece produced by all participants.

14. See a rap star at a new ladies’ night

Super club Base has revealed that it’s set to launch a second ladies’ night. Taking place every Saturday, ‘Code’ will offer ladies’ unlimited drinks from doors opening at 10pm until the club closes at 4am. But that’s not all. The d3 superclub has also revealed a huge-line up of stars set to headline at the club each week. It will kick off this Saturday October, 6 with rapper Fat Joe.

 15. Chill out at a new happy hour 

The lesser known seventyseventy bar at Park Hyatt’s The Promenade has launched a new happy hour, to unwind on a Saturday evening. Selected wines will be Dhs35 from 5pm to 8pm, while selected bottles will be priced at Dhs175.
