Rooftop cinema, a pool party at the Burj, sundowner spots and party hard places for raising the roof…

Outdoor season is officially upon us, we’ve declared it. But it’s not all about eating and drinking, there’s some killer views to be had whether it’s from the cinema, clubs and pools high above Dubai.

So we’ve rounded up seven rooftop spots in the city and they’re not just about food and drink (although there’s a couple for that too).

For a movie: Vox Outdoor

This rooftop cinema above the Galleria Mall has re-opened for the winter season and is showing a host of blockbusters. Each ticket includes a food and beverage pack as well as a blanket to cosy up with in case it gets chilly, and seating options vary from beanbags and single seats to cushy couches suitable for two.

The Galleria Mall, Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah, daily, various timings, from Dhs130. More info on website

For a swim: La Ville Hotel & Suites, City Walk

With boutique luxury hitting you the moment you walk through the door, you can expect to be truly wowed when you head to the rooftop pool at La Ville. The infinity pool overlooks the Burj Khalifa and while it may be small, it makes for a peaceful paddle or some quiet relaxation on the handful of loungers that are smattered around. Be sure to stick around for sundowners at poolside bar Look Up.

La Ville Hotel & Suites City Walk Dubai, Dubai, daily 7am to sunset, adults Dhs100 weekdays, Dhs150 weekends. Tel: (054) 309 5948. livelaville.com.

For a party: White Dubai

Back from its summer long hiatus, super club White Dubai runs three regular nights every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from its Meydan rooftop spot. Tinie Tempah’s night, Disturbing runs every Thursday, while Friday is a night dedicated to art and performance called Bizaar. Saturday continues to be dedicated to Urbn, their weekly ladies’ night.

White Dubai, Meydan, Thurs to Sat, 11pm to 4am, free entry. Tel: (050) 443 0933. More info on Facebook

For the pool and a party: The rooftop pool at The Burj Club

The rooftop soiree at the Burj Khalifa is back for a new sason. Taking place at the later time of 6pm to 11pm, it’s priced at Dhs175 per person. Included is rooftop pool access at the Burj Club, where you can groove to sultry tunes, whilst lazing on an assortment of pool floats. Hello, insta-worthy giant flamingo. Plus, you get Dhs100 back to spend on food and drink.

The Rooftop Pool, The Burj Club, Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, Thurs and Fri, 6pm to 11pm, Dhs175. Tel: (04) 888 3900. More info on website

For dinner: Mercury Lounge

This lounge claims to be the only one in town that overlooks the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab. It’s at the top of the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, and the bar itself is as attractive as that view. Mercury Lounge has just launched an evening night brunch every Thursday from 8pm to 11pm, you’ll get a special menu of modern Mediterranean dishes for Dhs295.

Four Seasons Dubai Jumeirah Resort, Jumeirah, Dubai, daily 6pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 270 7777. More info on website

For drinks: The Penthouse

Perched atop of FIVE Palm Jumeirah is The Penthouse. With a central indoor area, and a terrace that snakes around the outside, the 16th floor rooftop spot is split between two personas: chilled and party. When it comes to views, you’ll do well to find better ones of the Marina than those served up from The Penthouse, especially at night when the skyline is lit up.

The Penthouse, FIVE Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, Sat to Wed 11am to 2am Thur and Fri 11am to 3am. Tel: (052) 900 4868. More info on website

For going sky high…

Ok so this isn’t a roof, but it’s treetop location warrants a mention. Mushrif’s Aventura nature adventure park has just reopened for a second season and includes more than 80 challenges across five levels. You’ll have to conquer the region’s longest series of tree top zip lines and brave a 25-metre Tarzan jump to complete the course.

Aventura, Mushrif Park, Dubai, weekdays 10am to 9pm, weekends 9am to 10pm, Dhs166.67, Dhs133.33 children. Tel: (052) 1787 616. More info on website
