It comes complete with a dozen different types of tacos, a Mexican R&B soundtrack and even a tequila bar…

Dubai Design District is set to welcome another hipster hangout next week with the arrival of brand new resto-bar El Noctámbulo.

Found on the ground floor of Building 8, the funky new spot will open its doors on Sunday October 21st.

The space was inspired by the dark urban tale of ‘La Mujer Lechuza’ (a Mexican tale told to children to prevent them going out at night), but with more fun and playful elements added. The restaurant is actually named after those who defy the legends, with ElNoctámbulo translating to the night owl.

Once inside the restaurant, you’ll find a taqueria serving up casual Mexican cuisine and even a tequila bar. On the menu, you’ll find simple dishes which promise ‘something for everyone’. There’s a dozen different types of tacos, empanadas, aguachile, guacamole from tropical guacamole to crispy fish tacos and cheese empanada. Be sure to save room for dessert, as the tres leches and churros con chocolate have already caught our eye.

Over at the tequila bar, you’ll find tequila (naturally), mezcal and the famous Micheladas (a Mexican beer made with lime juice), served up to a predominantly Mexican Hip Hop and RnB playlist.

The funky new spot has been developed by Samer Hamadeh, creator of popular hotspots Akiba Dori and Stereo Arcade, so we’ve got high hopes for his latest venture.

The restaurant is the latest in a string of cool Mexican hangouts in the city, following the arrival of Canadian export La Carnita in Dubai Marina and Luchador on The Palm.

We can’t wait to see how El Noctámbulo fares…
