From sundowners in the sand to rooftop soirees…

After a summer that felt like it was never going to end, we’re calling it, Dubai is finally cooling down. So now all we want to do is get outside, especially when it comes to sipping on sundowners. So, for the new season, we’ve tracked down six fresh spots that you’ll definitely want to add to your sunset drinks bucket list…

But if it’s a classic you’re after, you’ll find eight more spots for sunset drinks right here.

The Penthouse

Party spot The Penthouse might be known as the go-to for a trendy late night Thursday house night and lively Saturday ladies’ day, but with some of the best skyline views in the city, it’s also a great spot for sundowners. Make a day of it with a pool pass – there’s two glass walled pools on either side of the venue where you can cool off with some seriously impressive views.

One of eight currently opened restaurants and bars onboard the QE2, The Yacht Club is the only al fresco spot currently open. Restored to mirror how it looked when the legendary liner was sailing, out on the terrace you can watch the sun set with the Downtown Dubai skyline as a backdrop. Head down for their weekend ‘sunset sessions’ to take advantage of two-for-one on selected beverages Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 8pm.

The Yacht Club, QE2 Dubai, Mina Rashid, 4pm to 1am, Tues and Weds, 4pm to 3am, Thurs to Sat, closed Sun and Mon. Tel: (04) 526 8888. qe2.com/dining

Noepe

One of several new drinking and dining spots at The Boardwalk, Noepe is perched on the edge of the waterfront at Dubai Creek’s Park Hyatt. The  bar is mostly outdoor, and split between high bar tables, marina front dining tables and cushy low sofas surrounding cosy fire pits. There’s a nautical feel to the bar that makes it a really chilled out spot, but keep an eye on their social media for weekly live music events.

Noepe, The Promenade, Park Hyatt Dubai Creek, daily 3pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 602 1234. dubai.park.hyatt.com

Drift Beach Club

Few Dubai instagrammers have missed the opportunity to snap a shot at Drift Beach. The whitewashed beach club can be found in the One & Only Royal Mirage, and has spots both on the beachfront, poolside cabanas and an al fresco bar and terrace for sipping sundowners.

DRIFT, One&Only Royal Mirage, Al Sufouh. Pool and beach open daily 10.30am to 8pm, restaurant open daily 12.30pm to 7pm. Tel: (04) 315 2200. driftbeachdubai.com.

Eve

Describing that it’s inspired by ‘a wandering beauty whose Gatsby-esque mystique and decadent lifestyle ensure she’s always the source of intrigue’, Eve is a new rooftop penthouse in the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights. Open from 4.30pm daily, Eve serves up an extensive menu of cocktails as well as an internationally influenced menu of bar bites alongside some stunning vistas of Dubai Creek.

Eve, Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, Dubai Creek, Sat to Weds, 4.30pm to 2am, Thurs and Fri, 4.30pm to 3am. Tel: (04) 553 1214. eveloungedubai.com
