Cloudy conditions will see temperatures drop as well…

Umbrellas at the ready, some parts of the UAE are set to face light rainfall over the weekend, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCMS) forecast.

In a weather update posted to Twitter, the NCMS advised that from Thursday to Sunday that Northeasterly winds combined with Easterly and Southeasterly winds from the ocean would bring moist air to the country. This could mean wet weather in parts of the region this weekend, particularly in Al Ain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

“The extension of the surface Red Sea Trough leads to a state of instability, which combines the northeasterly winds with the southeasterly winds loads loaded with water vapour over the UAE,” the tweet read.

“This would cause clouds to form with rainfall in different areas, sometimes accompanied with thunderstorms,” concluded the report.

A further tweet warned that winds could restrict visibility to less than 2000 metres at times on non-coastal areas on Thursday afternoon and into the evening.

Earlier in the week, parts of Al Ain including Al Aquaa and Nail and Al Saad faced heavy rain fall.
