Does your phone say ‘UAE Tolerance? Here’s why…

The change appeared on du phones over the weekend…

Eagle-eyed residents may have spotted a change to their network provider name over the weekend, replaced by the words ‘UAE Tolerance’. Been wondering why? Well, it’s all in the name of International Tolerance Day, which takes place across the globe on November 16.

To celebrate the occasion, the UAE’s Ministry of Tolerance is hosting a week-long National Festival of Tolerance. Running from November 9 to 16, the festival will celebrate tolerance in the region, as well as highlighting the  values of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in connection with the Year of Zayed.

It’s not the first time network providers have changed name. Both du and etisalat have previously changed their name to ‘Challenge Accepted’, in recognition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Labour Day, to mark World Labour Day, and Zayed Humanitarian Day, in honour of the day dedicated to the the good deeds and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed.
