First look: Celebrity chef Michael Mina opens new Dubai restaurant

The 70-seater restaurant promises a casual vibe and top quality steaks…

Celebrity chef Michael Mina is no stranger to the region. Although his Firebird Diner was short-lived, his second concept, Mina Brasserie, has fared much better with the DIFC crowd.

But now the celebrated chef has a new venture called Prime Grill, and we’ve had the first look inside.

Found in The Galleria Mall, the casual steakhouse boasts both indoor and outdoor seating and favours lighter, more neutral tones rather than the classic dark steakhouse hues.

On the menu, there are sections ‘From the Sea’ and ‘From the Land’, with dishes including tuna tartare and a tomato and burrata for those looking for something a little lighter.

However, the star of the show is undoubtedly the steaks, a signature Mina is famous for. There are both wood-fired and dry-aged options, with a 1kg Tomahawk for two advertising it will require 30-40 minutes cooking time for anything served above medium well, and at least that long required to devour it all.

Be sure to save room for dessert, on the menu you’ll find an array of options including a spiced carrot cake, roasted strawberry cheesecake, and the signature Prime Grill Brownie.

We’ll be the ones stuffing our faces on the outdoor terrace…

Prime Grill, The Galleria, Al Safa, Al Wasl Road, Al Safa, Dubai, daily 12pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 3427079. michaelmina.net
