You can now book a winter staycation in one of these luxury trailers or cabins.

The UAE might be better known for its glitzy five-star hotels, but glamping is on the rise.

Hatta is now home to the region’s first “trailer hotel”, where visitors can camp along the banks of Hatta Dam in luxuriously appointed trailers.

Hatta Sedr Trailers, part of a larger ecotourism project by Dubai-based developer Meraas, opened the doors to its rustic but lovely units on October 30. A one-night stay starts from Dhs250.

It’s just one of the brand new accommodation options in the mountain town. Hatta Damani Lodges – a mountain lodge featuring cosy purpose-built cabins (also from Dhs250 per night) – is another glamping experience that opened this week.

A boutique hotel called Riad Hatta, currently in the design stage, is also set to open by the end of 2019, and will showcase the local culture and heritage. The hotel will have private plunge pools, restaurants serving dishes influenced by local cuisine, as well as a spa and a hammam.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the new Hatta Wadi Hub, which offers a range of both paid and free activities such as mountain biking, downhill carting, a human sling shot, axe throwing, archery, adventure rope courses, zip lines, and more.

You’ll also find Hatta Drop-In, a “water jump park” with crazy slides and intriguing-sounding “drop-in donuts”.

Another new experience is Hatta Zorbing, a specialised zorbing centre for both adults and children. The sport involves rolling down a hill in a giant transparent orb.

Hatta is located just an hour-and-a-half’s drive from Dubai, and by the looks of these new openings, it’s set to become our new favourite staycation spot…
