The legendary DJ duo talk Dubai, racing cars and performing in space…

As BAO festival fires up in Meydan this evening, it’s set to be the biggest EDM festival Dubai has ever seen, bringing 12 world-class DJs to the city for two huge days of partying.

While Dutch DJ Martin Garrix will headline on Friday November 30, Thursday November 29 will see the ‘Kings of Tomorrowland’, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike take to the huge BAO festival stage.

Ahead of their arrival, we caught up with the DJ duo to talk Dubai, racing cars and performing in space.

What’s On: Welcome back to Dubai, what do you love about performing here?
Dimitri Vegas: Dubai is an amazing place. The view alone is incredible and we’re also big fans of the general pace of life and nightlife culture of the place. It’s always great to come back, see old and new friends and soak up the Dubai way of life.

WO: If you have any free time in the city, what will you be getting up to?

DV: We are looking to do a trip down the desert, maybe race some cars at Yas island and we’ll probably do some shopping. We’re keen to see more of Dubai on this trip so if any of the fans have recommendations please let us know.

WO: What has been your career highlight thus far?
Like Mike:
Working with so many gifted and creatively minded artists is always a gift. Everyone from Diplo, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Ne-Yo, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Snoop Dogg… I mean the list goes on and on. The respect we have for fellow artists and to bounce ideas and create magic in the studio is something that will always be a highlight for us.
DV: Also playing at our home Tomorrowland never fails to amaze us. It’s a special place for us and is a magical journey to be a part of.

LM: Hard work and a vision. Believe in your work. Set goals and try and achieve them. There’s no secret recipe, you just need to be prepared to work harder than the next person to make your dreams become a reality.

WO: Is there anywhere still on your performing bucket list?
DV: Space?
