Huge Dubai yoga festival to return in February

XYoga Dubai will take over Kite Beach during the first weekend of February.

More than 15,000 yogis are expected to descend on Kite Beach on February 1 and 2 for the region’s largest yoga festival.

XYoga Dubai will see two full days of more than 60 classes for all ages and abilities, led by some big local and international names in yoga.

This year’s line-up includes Laura Sykora, a self-described “handstand addict” who has more than one million Instagram followers, San Francisco-based “global yoga warrior” Janet Stone, Shiva Yoga creator Garth Hewitt, mind and body wellness expert Davidji, and popular Indian yogi and trainer-to-the-stars Deepika Mehta.

Yoga fans can also sign up for sessions hosted by some of Dubai’s top studios including Nilaya House, Urban Yoga, Yoga House, Yoga Ashram, Dryp, Lotus Holistic Yoga Center and Voyoga.

New styles you’ll be able to check out this year include iyengar yoga, partner yoga, hula hoop yoga, Bollywood dance, tai chi, acroyoga and yogalates.

The festival will open with a free mass yoga session for 2000 yogis at 8am on February 1, with the full programme to be revealed soon.

You’ll also be able to take part in warm-up sessions around the city in the lead-up to the main event. The first session will take place at 5pm on December 21, at the Ripe Market at Police Academy Park. Led by Ragini Nagu from Kintsugi Studio, the hula hoop session will be flow and rhythm-based.

We’ll see you on the mats…
