Here is our ultimate guide to the upcoming restaurant openings you need to know about. Rest assured, we’ll keep updating this list as soon as we know more…

1. Han Shi Fu

WHAT: Described as a ‘trendy Asian fusion gastropub’, Han Shi Fui is set to open its doors on December 6 in the Aloft City Centre Deira. Split into multiple dining areas, the vibrant space promises a ‘unique mood and atmosphere’ at each. As well as restaurant dining, there will be a more casual bar area where diners can perch up for a pre or post dinner drink.

WHEN: December 6, 2018

2. Kizmet

WHAT: Kizmet is a two-storey restaurant promising “a cool comfortable well-lit space with small plates and a focus on a neighborhood feel” when it opens this week. Brought to you by the team behind Baker & Spice, the menu promises a little bit of everything, focusing on affordable dishes cooked in traditional ways, inspired by the cultural melting pot of Dubai.

WHEN: December 7, 2018

3. Mantis

WHAT: Found in Emirates Financial Towers, this swanky new spot promises to be ‘the city’s most exclusive place to be’ when it opens its doors in the coming weeks. The first nightclub in the tower, the 8,500-square foot venue will feature state-of-the-art lighting, sound and digital technology, and promises a ‘7-star’ experience for those who enter.

4. The London Project

WHAT: Homegrown concept, The London Project is set to open in the next couple of weeks. The split-level restaurant and bar is split into a ground floor restaurant and bar, inspired by ‘the form of a living tree’, and an upstairs gin garden, which is modeled on a wild, overgrown English country garden.

WHEN: Mid-December 2018

5. Bacchanal Buffet

WHAT: One of six restaurants opening at Caesars Bluewaters Resort this month, we’ve already got out eye on Bacchanal Buffet, which serves up to 3500 guests each day at its Las Vegas location.

6. All’Onda

WHAT: One of eight restaurants opening its doors in the stunning new Emerald Palace Kempinski on The Palm, is Italian Venetian restaurant, All’Onda. In the kitchen, guests can expect a blend of Italian Venetian cuisine, with influences from Japanese and Indian cooking traditions, with the menu headed up by the award winning chef Chris Jaeckle.

7. Opa

WHAT: Get ready for a menu of traditional Greek eats, Zorba dancing and plate smashing when Opa throws open its doors this December. The new spot promises an affordable menu of traditional Greek eats, a friendly ambience and charming interiors inspired by the Greek Islands.

8. Torno Subito

WHAT: Chef Massimo Bottura, the mastermind behind three Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana is opening a restaurant in W Dubai The Palm – which is opening its doors later this month. The chef, who saw Osteria Francescana crowned number one in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants this year, will open a more casual venue in Dubai, called Torno Subito. Set to be his first restaurant outside of Italy, the venue describes that it will take ‘guests on a journey back to 1960s Italy, where the vibe is sophisticated and social, but laidback’.

9. Akira Back

WHAT: Akira Back, the adrenaline-fueled Korean culinary master will also be bringing his signature Japanese fine dining fare to Dubai. One of two celebrity chefs opening in W Dubai The Palm, the restaurant promises an upscale fine-dining experience.

WHEN: December 2018

10. OSH

WHAT: Hailing from upscale Knightsbridge in London, Osh is an Uzbek restaurant set to open its doors this month. Advertising that it serves ‘delicacies from the Uzbek grill and signature dishes giving authentic Central Asian food and modern twist’, we’re hoping to see plenty of Shashlik and samosas on the menu.

11. Villamore

WHAT: This Mediterranean inspired restaurant and lounge is a soon-to-open al fresco spot at the Emerald Palace Kempinski. Promising a seasonally changing menu of fresh fish and seafood dishes, the venue will serve up chilled out lazy lunches by day and a livelier lounge vibe by night.

12. Alici

WHAT: From the team behind the double What’s On award-winning Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, licensed seafood restaurant Alici is inspired by Southern Italy and the Amalfi coast. The split level, 230-seater restaurant promises elevated Italian dishes, sustainably sourced seafood and spectacular Arabian Gulf views. Dishes will vary according to the season and the sea availability, with head chef Domenico Santagada creating his menus according to what the fishermen bring in every day.

WHEN: January 2019

13. Skyland Bar

WHAT: One of three bars coming to the soon to open Stella Di Mare hotel in Dubai Marina is Skyland. Offering indoor and outdoor seating from its rooftop location on the 31st floor of the hotel, it promises an extensive cocktail list with a side of panoramic marina views.

WHEN: January 2018

14. Avli by tashas

Opening alongside Mina Brasserie is Avli, a brand new concept by famed restauranteur Natasha Sideris. Sideris, who is already the brains behind the popular tashas cafe chain and the recently opened Flamingo Room is expected to open her third concept early this year. It replaces La Luz, which closed in Q4 of 2017 after just shy of a year of operation.

WHERE: Four Seasons, DIFC

WHEN: Early 2019

15. Marea

WHAT: The two Michelin star Marea restaurant, also by Atelier House Hospitality, is set to open its doors in DIFC sometime next Spring. The New York export will serve up high-end Italian cuisine from its new home in the financial heart of the city.

WHEN: Early 2019

16. Masterchef the TV experience

WHAT: Set to debut in the Wyndham West Bay Dubai Marina Hotel, which has been pushed back to a 2019 opening, Masterchef the TV Experience will fully immerse guests in the MasterChef TV show experience. The interior will be inspired by the MasterChef TV set, and diners will be able to choose from an ever-changing menu featuring popular original dishes conceived and inspired by contestants and champions from some 52 countries.

WHEN: Spring 2019

17. Nammos

WHAT: A slice of the Greek party island of Mykonos is headed for Dubai, as Nammos beach club has announced it is opening in the Emirate. As well as serving up chilled out beach vibes by day, Nammos is known as a lively party spot for top Mediterranean dishes, and also hosts one-off beach parties by night.

WHERE: Four Seasons Jumeirah

WHEN: Spring 2019

18. Wavehouse

WHAT: Set to open early next year, this new entertainment venue will overlook Aquaventure at Atlantis The Palm and promises a family-friendly restaurant, adults-only bar, bowling alley, retro gaming zone and even a wave machine.

WHEN: Spring 2019

19. Dolce Sky

WHAT: A like-no-other concept is coming to Downtown Dubai’s Address Boulevard Hotel called Dolce Sky. Dolce Sky, which will occupy the hotel’s 70th and 71st floor, will be home to a bar, outdoor rooftop terraces (tough for those scared of heights), French restaurant La Vie, Japanese spot Takumi and Ellecti Lounge, a private, members-only space.

WHEN: Spring 2019

20. Sky2.0

WHAT: The famous outdoor Beirut nightclub Skybar is coming to the city this winter, and will be called Sky 2.0 in Dubai, and will open its doors in Dubai Design District. Although few details have been revealed, its Lebanese counterpart can house up to 2,500 guests, so we’re expecting a similar super-sized venue when Sky2.0 arrives in Dubai in a few months.
