Another week, another footballing hero rubs shoulders with Dubai’s Crown Prince…

One is footballing royalty, the other actual royalty, but the two worlds of Sheikh Hamdan and Mo Salah came together in Dubai recently at a glittering awards ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.

It was at the awards, which took place on Wednesday January 9, that HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum presented Egyptian footballer Mo Salah with the ‘Outstanding Arab Athlete’ award.

The pair were seen talking animatedly in a video posted by Dubai Media Office, before taking to the stage.

“Today, we honoured a host of exceptional local, regional and international sports figures as part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award. We wish them continued success,” Dubai’s Crown Prince tweeted after the event.

But it wasn’t just Sheikh Hamdan that the Liverpool star enjoyed an audience with. HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai also received all of the winners at Zabeel Palace earlier in the day.

It’s the second time in as many weeks that Dubai’s Sheikh Hamdan has been spotted with a footballing hero, after sharing selfies with Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo last week.

‘A great player and even greater friend’, Sheikh Hamdan captioned the post.
