The airport received its billionth passenger last December, 58 years after opening…

A new brand signifying the Dubai International Airport (DXB) transition to a consumer-led company was unveiled in a ceremony on February 13.

The launch comes after the milestone event for DXB in December 2018, when it received its billionth passenger just over 58 years since its opening.

The event was attended by the royal family including HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and other dignitaries.

Sheikh Ahmed stated ‘Aviation, tourism and travel have been fundamental in Dubai’s growth story and we believe this investment will yield further dividends by encouraging repeat traffic and enticing connecting passengers to visit Dubai.’

He added on Twitter that the new brand will signify the Dubai Airport’s transition to a consumer-led company, which will ‘revolutionise travellers airport experience’ and will convert connecting passengers into repeat visitors.

Sheikh Mohammed added that the phase carries a new identity and transforms Dubai Airports from an operator to an innovative and cultural travel experience.

DXB also partnered with action sports brand XDubai to deliver an incredible one-of-a-kind stunt, performed by Emirati athlete and skydiver Mohammed Baker. The stunt was released in a stunning short film that was posted by both Dubai Airports and XDubai.

Baker attempted what is believed to be the world’s longest free fall, that began with a jump out of a helicopter and a glide down Sheikh Zayed Road, before swooping under eight lanes of traffic on the highway.
