From long-awaited openings to fresh dining spots, deals, and places to party, we bring you our monthly round-up of new things to do in Dubai.

1. Check out a cool new entertainment destination

A major new dining and entertainment venue is set to shake up things at Atlantis The Palm. Called Wavehouse, the new complex is split between indoor and outdoor activities and comes complete with a restaurant, terrace and adult-only bar, as well as endless family-friendly fun to keep little ones (and grown ups) busy such as arcade games, a soft play area and licensed bowling alley.

2. Check in for a staycation at a brand new hotel

The hotly anticipated W Dubai – The Palm hotel has now opened its doors. Guests can bask in Arabian Gulf or Dubai skyline views from the extensive terrace of one of the resort’s 350 guest rooms, including 58 suites. There’s a big leisure and spa focus here, with the region’s first AWAY Spa which combines a lively atmosphere with the ultimate pampering experience, a wet deck that sets the scene for poolside play, two celebrity chef led restaurants and a state-of-the-art gym.

3. Dine around a new Dubai neighbourhood

Found at the tip of the Palm Jumeirah, facing Atlantis, The Palm, The Pointe is a new destination by master developer Nakheel, promising 1.4 million square feet of shopping dining and leisure activities. A cinema, gym, childrens play area and a handful of restaurants and shops are already open, with around 70 venues expected to be operating when the destination is complete.

4. Shop up a storm at a fashion brands debut

Popular British e-commerce site Missguided has opened a store in The Dubai Mall. Found on the first floor, the store is opposite Dubai Aquarium, near Forever 21, taking the spot formerly occupied by New Look, and is famous for its fast fashion pieces, especially partywear.

5. Tuck in at a new restaurant by a world famous chef

Opening on Sunday February 10 is Torno Subito, an Italian restaurant by acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura that will open its doors in the recently opened W Dubai – The Palm. Bottura is the mastermind behind the currently ranked World’s Best Restaurant, Osteria Francescana, and it will be his first restaurant outside Italy. Guests can expect to dine in a ’60’s-esque wonderland, decked with woven green chairs, life sized beachfront imagery and walls, and lighting reminiscent of dressing rooms and marquees from the golden age of Hollywood,’ according to a statement by the W.

6. Make the most of a new ladies’ day

Ibiza brand House in Paradise is set to launch a new ladies’ day this Saturday February 2 at Atlantis, The Palm. The deal will run from 12pm to 4pm every Saturday, and there will be packages for both ladies and gents, starting from just Dhs99. The drinks-only package for ladies’ offers four hours of free-flowing house drinks for Dhs99, or upgrade to the Dhs150 package, and ladies can enjoy free flowing Rose, cocktail pitchers, and a choice from the food menu. But this isn’t just for the girls. Guys can take advantage of the same package for Dhs200.

7. And a fabulous new ladies’ night

On offer every Tuesday on the Rooftop at Folly, ladies can enjoy three complimentary drinks from a selection when they spend Dhs50 on food. The deal will run every Tuesday from 6pm until 12am, and is served up to a soundtrack of retro hits sure to get your toes tapping.

8. Party hard at a new club night

Two party powerhouses have come together for this epic new Saturday night party, and it’s sure to become your go-to place to party on the weekend. Crazy Land at Base Dubai is powered by Candypants and delivers an epic set of ‘kaleidoscopic backgrounds of the jungle and sea, stunning pyrotechnics and pumping house and pop music’, as well as three complimentary drinks for ladies.

9. Breakfast at an all-American burger joint

Famous for monster milkshakes and oh-so-instagrammable burgers, Black Tap is the restaurant chain on most Dubai instagram feeds. But did you know it’s also just started serving breakfast on weekends? Available at both JBR and Al Naseem locations, dishes include standard breakfast options such as avo toast but also some all-American types such as fried chicken and waffles.

10. Take a trip to Dubai’s Love Lakes

Dubai has a new attraction that’s already at the top of our must-visit list. Found in Al Qudra, there are two man-made lakes which have been shaped into two interlocking hearts. The Love Lake is a short distance from the Last Lake of Al Qudra, and if it wasn’t romance-inducing enough in the shape of a heart, ‘Love’ has also been spelled out in trees next to it.

11. Check out an unusual exhibition

This showcase of 16 mechanical insects by German artist Gaby Wormann is inspired by the writings of Franz Kafka and the work of artists H.R. Giger and Pierre Matter. Wormann takes tiny components such as watch gears, plates, balance springs and filaments to make these futuristic insects.

12. Book a table at a brand new Saturday brunch

The lazy Saturday brunch at Ruya launches this weekend and is a three hour package from 12pm to 3pm. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, with a mix of sharing style and a la carte dishes served to the table, free-flowing drinks and sounds from resident DJ Amzin. We’re already big fans of Ruya’s a la carte menu, and can’t wait to see what they bring to the Saturday brunch scene.

13. Sip sundowners at a new rooftop bar

Found right under Ain Dubai you’ll find The London Project, a split-level restaurant and bar that’s just opened its doors. Inspired by ‘the form of a living tree’, The London Project is a garden-inspired space, completely kitted out with colourful artworks, leafy foliage and exotic flowers. As well as being a social space, the Gin Garden will also house its own gin distillery, producing The London Project gin. On the bar shelves, you’ll also be able to find specially selected craft beers, including a selection from London’s first craft brewery, Meantime.

14. See a soul star perform live

David Davis a soulful, vocal powerhouse and expert showman who you can catch live at Q’s Bar & Lounge until May 2. Chicago- born and surrounded by eight siblings, he captured attention by belting out Motown classics, performing in church and always finding his way to a stage. He perfected his piano and performance skills whilst studying in the nationally renowned Belmont University music program, drawing inspiration from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and India Arie. Davis will perform every Tuesday to Friday at 9pm, 10.30pm and midnight, and on Saturdays at 8pm until midnight. A Dhs350 minimum spend per person applies on Thursdays and Fridays.

15. Have a cuppa at a hip new cafe

Healthy foodies will love Urth Caffe, the brand new cafe at City Walk. The Los Angeles export, which also has venues in Saudi Arabia and Japan, is considered one of the top organic heirloom coffee roasters in the US. The brand uses all-natural ingredients across its lines of chemical-free coffees and teas. Expect plenty of health-conscious yet tasty creations, such as matcha pancakes, wild mushroom pizza baked in the in-house wood-fire pizza oven, and even vegan chocolate cake. As well as the delicious-looking heirloom coffees, we also spied some bubble tea on the menu (yum)…
