The Etisalat phone network changed to ‘SANDOQWATN’, an initiative which aims to secure the future for the nation…

If you’re an Etisalat service provider phone user, you may have noticed that your network provider name changed on Monday morning to ‘Sandoqwatn-Etisalat’

Why? Well, Sandooq Al Watn is an initiative that was created by a group of Emirati businessmen to bring the community together, along with the UAE leadership to achieve sustainable development, a decent life and a bright future for all citizens.

The service provider also sent out a video referencing the network change on Twitter:

The initiative calls on UAE citizens and the society to contribute to the advancement of the UAE by providing them with opportunities for growth and development and helping them achieve their full potential.

One of the programs the initiative supports targets young Emiratis to come forward to build on the talent they have on a larger platform –  be it science, literature, arts or more.

A video posted to the Sandooq Al Watan’s Instagram account displays the programming talent of 12-year-old, Mariam Ali Al Kaabi who programmed a robot to recognize faces.

In the video, the robot recognizes the face of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and then expresses its desire to meet him.

The foundation ends the post by calling on other talented young Emiratis to register and showcase their talent.

Sandooq Al Watn also has programs that offer professional guidance that aims to help the career path of young students. By 2020, it hopes to increase the percentage of graduates in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.

Other programs that the foundation is involved in is building a sustainable economy for the future of the country and the people. According to the website, it hopes to create UAE-based companies such as Google and Tesla.
