President HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a new federal decrees to appoint the UAE’s first female judges.

Federal Decree No. 27 of 2019 appoints Khadeeja Khamis Khalifa Al Malas and Salamah Rashid Salem Al Ketbi as the first two Emirati women to hold judicial positions at the Federal Judiciary in the UAE.

Appeals judge Khadija Khamis Al Malas and First Instance Court judge Salama Rashid Al Ketbi thanked Sheikh Khalifa, and pledged to exert all their effort to perform their judicial work and achieve swift justice, in line with the constitutional texts and laws of the Federal judicial authority, according to state news agency, wam.

The historic move further reflects the UAE government’s determination to empower women in the workplace, and further encourage their part in being an integral role in the development and progress of the nation.
