One Direction will perform in Dubai in April in what is already being billed as the “biggest ever” show in the Middle East.

Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne will perform for thousands of screaming fans at the Sevens Stadium on April 4 2015.

The concert – part of 1D’s ‘On the Road Again’ tour – will be the only gig in the entire region for the world’s biggest boy band, with no further plans for shows in the Middle East or North Africa.

A Middle East record of 30,000 tickets will be sold, going on sale on Thursday morning, with a special launch from Virgin Megastore in Mall of the Emirates at 6am. Prices will start at Dhs250, with a maximum of eight tickets per person.

“It’s going to be the biggest ever show in the Middle East, surpassing Rolling Stones,” claimed Done Events.

“It is completely out of the question that there will be another show announced anywhere in the region,” the company added. “We could have done two nights, of course, but it just wasn’t possible.”

The announcement this morning sent Twitter into a frenzy, as Dubai’s devoted 1D fans – dubbed ‘Directioners’ – reacted to the news.

One fan tweeted: “So excited to hear that @onedirection are coming to #Dubai. Only have to wait till April 2015 though #patienceisavirtue”

@Alanood_Alameri tweeted: “My class is laughing at me because I’m crying because I found out that @onedirection are coming to #Dubai”, while fellow fan @NadiaSaleh said: “Barely just announced @onedirection are coming to Dubai. HOLD ME. BYE SANITY. IT WAS NICE KNOWING YOU.”

Another Directioner summed up the reaction of the boys’ tween fan base with her tweet: “OMG OMG OMG OMG ONE DIRECTION TO COME TO DUBAI”

There will be four ticket categories for the show, with ‘Diamond’ the most expensive at Dhs1,000. Up to 7,500 lucky Diamond ticket holders will be able to take their place in front of the stage. After that is ‘Gold’, priced at Dhs500 and providing access to the area close to the B-Stage, in the middle of the action. ‘Silver’ is a standing category at Dhs300 per ticket. Finally at the back a seating grandstand will be erected, for ‘Bronze’ ticket holders. Each ticket category has an overflow area in the grandstands running the length of the pitch.

Done Events also claimed there will be a longer trunk out into the crowd than there was at Justin Bieber’s Dubai gig. Doors are likely to open at 4pm, with the crowds getting the first glimpse of their idols at around 8pm.

Sally Edwards, Director of Dubai Calendar, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the most popular band in the world to Dubai. The emirate is fast-becoming the go-to destination for first-class entertainment, with the world’s biggest artists choosing the city as the region’s stop on their world tours. It’s certainly no coincidence that acts and events of such a high calibre are increasingly choosing Dubai, and we’re seeing more and more tourists visit the emirate on account of its unmatched entertainment offering. With One Direction joining Lady Gaga and Sensation in our line-up of upcoming events, Dubai’s residents and visitors can look forward to arguably the world’s biggest band, the world’s biggest solo artiste and the world’s biggest dance event.”
