What’s On has details of the line-up for Summer Season in Abu Dhabi, taking place at Emirates Palace in August, led by David Blaine and Sunidhi Chauhan.

He famously encased himself in a block of ice for 63 hours, and lived in a Plexigas box suspended above London for 44 days – and now American magician, illusionist and endurance artist David Blaine is bringing his show to Abu Dhabi for the first time. Blaine will perform for three nights at Emirates Palace as part of Abu Dhabi’s summer season programme.

His magic show is just one of five new events announced for the summer at the Palace today and he’ll be performing August 21 to 23.

Abu Dhabi’s most famous hotel will also host the winners and finalists from three hit TV shows as part of its Arab Stars Showcase event on August 14. Stars from Arab Idol, Arabs Got Talent and The Voice Middle East will perform for one evening, with talent including Mohammed Assaf, Ahmed El Bayed and Mohammed Al-Dairi on the bill.

So what else is planned? A concert on August 15 with Bollywood megastar Sunidhi Chauhan and her dance troupe, plus a second United Nations of Comedy on August 28 and 29, featuring Aron Kader, Mo Amer, Sammy Obeid and Fahad Al Butairi.

Finally, there’s family entertainment in the form of Freej Live: Abood’s Dream, a stage show based on the popular, locally produced cartoon. That runs from July 31 to August 2.

Blaine and the rest of the acts join the already announced Summer Season events at ADNEC – featuring shadow art performance act Shadowland, Cinderella by the Royal Moscow Ballet and La Verità, a theratrical show celebrating the life of legendary Spanish Catalan surrealist painter Salvador Dali.

Tickets to the Abu Dhabi Summer Season events at Emirates Palace start at Dhs50 and are available from kempinski.com or ticketmaster.ae.
