What’s On profiles four of the best tapas restaurants in Dubai, including Casa de Tapas review, at Boardwalk, Park Hyatt, as part of a World Cup eats feature for June.

CASA DE TAPAS
If you like your tapas with a view then Casa de Tapas at the revamped Boardwalk ticks both boxes. This authentic restaurant tries to recreate the Spanish countryside with vines hanging from the ceiling, and traditional art on the walls. Much of Casa de Tapas is glass, lending a lovely spacious feel to the place.

The menu is packed with classics, including the exceptional Spanish omelette and Atlantic octopus with crushed potato and paprika. For larger dishes, the black ink paella made with angel hair pasta is a great twist to the familiar dish, while the whole sea bass baked in salt is worth ordering purely to enjoy the theatre of watching the waiter hacking through the crust to get to the juicy fish inside. For dessert, the moreish churros – sugary doughnut sticks – with white chocolate sauce are a must.

MCGETTIGANS
Yes, it’s an Irish pub, but they’re having a crack at tapas. Grab a deal of three dishes and a bottle of wine for Dhs195 at the upstairs venue The D. It may not be Spanish, but the tapas are tasty – just check out those sliders.

A pretty setting for authentic tapas, served by Spanish staff. The deal of three tapas dishes for Dhs95 or six for Dhs180 is enticing. Make sure you order the excellent paella, which is brought to your table in a huge steel pan.
