The planet’s most popular smart phone is now available with a crystal-encrusted cover in either smoky grey and blue, and solid black.

Samsung Gulf Electronics have teamed up with Swarovski to create the one-off Galaxy S5 case which will, should you feel the need to treat yourself, set you back Dhs499.

The dust and water resident device, which also boasts fingerprint and heartbeat scanners, has been available in the UAE since its launch in April, priced at Dhs2,699 for the 4G LTE model and Dhs2,599 for the 3G model. It has a 5.1 inch screen with a full HD Super AMOLED display and a 16MP rear camera, while operating off Andriod 4.4.2 (Kitkat).

Through the release of the new Swarovski- encrusted cover, Samsung hopes to attract the UAE’s glitzy and ‘bling’ savvy consumers.

Dubai and the UAE are, of course, no strangers to ‘bling’. Last month, a dentist in Jumeriah announced they were creating the world’s most sparkling smile. Valued at over Dhs550,000 the cosmetic frontal denture is expected to receive a certificate from Guinness World Records for the most expensive smile.

“When the people of the UAE received the title of world’s happiest people, the clinic thought about making the world’s most expensive smile and to offer parts of the proceeds from it to a UAE children’s charity,” said Dr Majd Naji, director of Liberty Dental Clinic.

Then last year a bra adorned with 4,200 precious gems set in 18-karat gold known as the ‘Royal Fantasy Bra and Belt’ was unveiled in Dubai by supermodel Adriana Lima. Made up of rubies, diamonds, blue and yellow sapphires, and a whopping pear-shaped ruby weighing in at 52 karats, all of which are set in 18 karat gold, the bra – valued at $10m – in all its blinged up glory was presented at the Dubai Mall branch of Victoria’s Secret.

There was also the Dhs 202million watch, a rainbow-coloured timepiece featuring 110 carats of extremely rare diamonds from luxury British jeweller’s Graff. The exotic multi-coloured ladies’ watch is called Hallucination and is available for private viewings upon request at Graff’s stores in The Dubai Mall and Burj Al Arab.
