What’s On reveals news of DJ Zedd Dubai show. The DJ will play Zero Gravity in September. He has recently supported Lady Gaga, also in Dubai in September.

The restart of the party season is just around the corner, and the big names are already lining up shows in Dubai with the wheels set in motion by confirmation that DJ Zedd, one of the world’s leading DJs set to take to the decks at Zero Gravity.

Award-winning DJ Zedd will roll into town on September 5 for a special one-off show at the Skydive Dubai Drop Zone, Dubai Marina. The German, who scooped a Grammy with his debut LP ‘Clarity’ back in 2012, has been a big hit on the major festival circuit for the last two years, landing spots at Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, Nocturnal, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Hard Summer in Los Angeles, and Electric Zoo in New York. This summer he has a residency in the new hub for EDM, Las Vegas.

Described last August as ‘the next big star of electronic music’ in Forbes Magazine, he now pulls in a fee of around $20,000 (Dhs75,000) per show. Not bad for a kid from Kaiserslautern.

According to his profile, the 24-year-old, was classically trained from the age of four (music runs in the family with his father is a guitarist and mother a piano instructor). He’s not afraid to use it, either, producing a particularly memorable stripped-down performance of his hit track during his national television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman, alongside a string quartet (below).

That love of music, as opposed to hit-making, has seen him support Lady Gaga – also coming to Dubai in September – on her world tour. Reflecting on his working relationship with the star, he says: “The difference between her and maybe a lot of other artists is that she is way more opinionated and knows what she wants rather than other artists, [who] probably don’t write any of their own music. She’s a more of a musician than just a singer.”

In the same interview with Forbes, he added: “I personally see myself as a musician in the first place. You know, I don’t want to say I will be a producer and DJ for the rest of my life. I can totally see myself being in another band in five years, if that’s what my heart and soul wants to do, if that’s what will make me happy I’m totally happy to just not DJ anymore.”

Tickets for DJ Zedd’s show in Dubai are available now via Platinum List, priced at Dhs180. Tickets at the door will cost Dhs220. Doors open 8pm to 3am.
