The award-winning Broadway production of Beauty And The Beast is coming to the UAE.

First published in France almost 300 years ago, the classic children’s tale tells the story of Belle, a young woman from a provincial town, and her unlikely romance with a young prince trapped in the body of an ogre; ‘Beast’ must find an understand love in order to be restored to his former self.

Retold over the centuries in many different forms, it first hit the stage in New York’s  iconic theatre district in 1994, based on the the 1991 Disney musical by the same name.

Since the production was first licensed around the world in 2004, Beauty And The Beast has reportedly grossed almost $1.7 billion (Dhs6.2 bn) worldwide, playing to 22 countries in eight languages.

The English-language production’s first visit to the Middle East will run from Thursday October 30 to November 8 and is part of a wider international tour that takes in Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Turkey. Put together by the show’s original creative team, including Tony Award winning costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, it will star 

“Beauty and the Beast is a legendary show that has enchanted young and old alike over the last two decades”, a spokemsman for Disney said. “Disney is delighted to be able to bring the full Broadway experience to the UAE capital for its regional premiere in partnership with FLASH Entertainment. It’s a show that delivers all of the magic, awe and excitement that you’d expect from Disney.” 

Songs such as A Tale As Old As Time and Be Our Guest will, according to organisers, appeal to adults and children alike. You can see performances of both numbers below.

Tickets, priced from between Dhs150 and Dhs750 go on sale on Wednesday August 6 at 12pm, with a special pre-sale available for those who register 24 hours earlier. Visit ticketmaster.ae for more.
