In the era of mega-sized – and often faceless – festivals, it’s always a bonus when a fresh, intimate event pops up on the radar. Swap vast filth-strewn festival sites in Europe for a heavenly palatial location under India’s starry sky, and you’re on to a winner.

That’s exactly what you’ll find at Magnetic Fields, the three-day music, arts and food festival staged in a 17th century palace in Shekawati, Rajasthan. Think gorgeous setting, access to a real palace, Bedoiun tents, cosy chats around pit fires, yoga sessions, souk markets and costumed balls – all set to a soundtrack by avant-garde international DJ headliners and a host of local legends – and, well, you get the picture.

Dubai-based DJ MoCity was so impressed with this little slice of contemporary culture that he’s embarked on a mission to spread the word amongst the UAE’s music lovers and intrepid adventurers. To herald this year’s Magnetic Fields festival – due to take place December 12 – 14 – Mo has enlisted local and international talent for a Magnetic Fields Launch Party here in Dubai, on Thursday.

And while Casa Latina might not offer the same wondrous surroundings, Mo, along with local DJs Finlay Lefox, Essarai, Makrodot and Adriano K – not to mention headliners Wen and Maga Bo – are confident of delivering enough Magnetic Field vibes to whet your appetite.

A touch of India in Dubai? Hype asked Finlay Lefox to spell it out…
If you’re into tropical or underground bass, then the Magnetic Fields launch party is the only place to be. The event showcases the very best talents from each genre. Wen has gone from strength to strength this year, and I feel he’s one of the freshest UK bass artists to hit Dubai. He’ll be bringing along tracks in his record bag that’ll leave you shaking from the ground up. And Maga Bo will be travelling all the way from Brazil to give us a lesson in how to vibe Brazilian style.”
Not only will you get to hear new music from the two guest mega bass dons, but you’ll get a chance to hear music from a set of fresh and very talented local DJs, each with their own individual and eclectic sounds. Adriano K and Markodot will be in the Tropical Room keeping things purely groove ‘n’ bass. In the Main Room, the always on-point Essarai will be rinsing his knowledge of underground music, and finally myself – Finlay Lefox – will be dropping purely UK future bass.”
Did you know there won’t only just be one room open – which is the usual at Casa Latina – but we’re opening up two rooms for your dancing pleasure? Not only will each room have a wicked sound system, visuals and beverage offers but each room will have very different styles of bass music for your ears to enjoy.”
It’s being hosted by the one and only DJ MoCity. This guy not only knows how to party, but when he throws one, it’s on a whole other level. He’s one of the tightest MCs I’ve ever heard, and he’ll be sure to keep you moving to the music all night long.”
And finally, come along to this night if you want to be a part of something new, something special. OHM Events, MoCity, all the DJs involved will make sure of this.”
