Following the successful Dubai Canvas Project held at The Beach opposite JBR last month, organisers have announced their next initiative, Urban Beats by The Beach from April 9 to 11.

Blending music, arts and action sports the Urban Beats youth event features demonstrations from urban talent across the globe. Among them are international skateboarding talents Adil Dyani, the record holder for the highest skateboard drop into a quarter pipe, and Pontus Bjorn, a pro skater from Sweden.

Elsewhere British BMX riders Zachart Poland-Shaw and Dean Cueson plan on putting pedal to the metal with a flurry of daredevil stunts.

Also flying in for the one-off event are French native graffiti artists UNAVIDA who will create a colourful backdrop at Urban Beats, leaving their one-off tags around The Beach for public viewing while a live DJ set from MC Tamer creates the soundtrack for the weekend every afternoon from 4pm to 8pm.

Keep an eye out for the break dancing Bboy battle on April 10 at 3pm judged by Bboy Maurizio AKA the Next One. If you’re up for the battle, you can register here. A cash prize fund of Dhs6,000 will be split between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Meanwhile, aspiring skateboarders, BMX riders and local break dancers have the chance to practice – or show off  – in a purpose-built competition arena.
