England have bad memories of the last time they toured the UAE.

They were walloped by Pakistan in all three Test matches when they met in 2012 in Dubai. However, England are currently riding high after crushing bitter rivals Australia in the Ashes this summer – with batsman Joe Root (above) dominating the series.

England will want to maintain that momentum in what will be coach Trevor Bayliss’ first overseas tour with the team. “We expect this autumn’s tour will be hard fought,” he said of the 10 clashes against Pakistan that are about to take place in the UAE (they’ve already played a few warm up rounds in Sharjah).

As for Pakistan? Well they’re respectfully wary of England: “Moeen Ali has done well against teams who play spin well, he did well against India who play spin well so you need to be focused. We know they are good bowlers and we have to respect them,” said Pakistan’s captain Misbah ul-Haq of the England team.
