A peloton of 128 cyclists from around the world are getting set to traverse 671 kilometres over four days this weekend for the Dubai Tour.

Sure, it’s called the Dubai Tour, but the quads-of-steel cyclists will actually go through four emirates, including Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah.

The endurance ride is split into four stages, the Dubai Silicon Oasis Stage (179km on Wednesday February 3), the Nakheel stage (188km on Thursday February 4), the Westin stage (172km on Friday February 5) and the Business Bay stage (137km on Saturday February 6).

Here’s where they’ll whizz through…

ROAD CLOSURES AND DUBAI ROUTE INFO

Things to do in Dubai 2015 special - Dubai Tour

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 3

Today the bikes will go from the Arabian Gulf at Dubai International Marine Club to the Gulf of Oman in Fujairah (a distance of 179km).

They will traverse the entire stretch of desert between Dubai and Fujairah through four different Emirates (Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah). The tour will go through the Silicon Oasis area before cutting through dunes toward the Hajar Mountains and Fujairah.

The below map shows when and where there will be road closures today – the boxes with times indicated are the times at which the roads they point toward will be closed:

If you see an arrow pointing toward a road that will affect you today (or on any of the days ahead), keep checking out the RTA’s Twitter account for further updates, as they’re posting timely tweets about the closures.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 4

The Nakheel Stage on Day 2 passes through Jumeirah Islands and the Palm Jumeirah communities as part of the 188 kilometre route, which starts at Dubai International Marine Club and finishes at Atlantis The Palm. It will also go toward Al Qudra and past Motor City. Here’s a map:

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 6

On the final day, the peloton will go from Dubai International Marine Club to Business Bay (137km) and will spend a lot of time in ‘old’ Dubai – so expect road closures there. Here’s a map guide to the route:

Good luck to all the cyclists covering 671km from today – truly impressive stuff.
