It will be chaired by renowned Columbia University economist Jeffrey Sachs, and another member is former Finnish prime minister Alexander Stubb.
First and foremost the council will be a think tank to dream up how governments can effectively and efficiently incorporate happiness as a standard for strategic planning.
“The UAE, under the leadership of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, believes that the major responsibility of governments is to bring happiness to their people by enabling them to choose the tools and means and providing their nations with hope,” explained Sheikh Mohammed.
The council will get together twice a year, and produce an annual happiness report. We’ll keep you posted on its progress and findings.
