Because they really are our best friends…

With temperatures averaging 43 degrees celsius and humidity hitting 90 per cent, neither us nor our pups fancy spending too much time outside at the moment. But that shouldn’t mean our furry friends should be cooped up at home every day, they still need to stretch their legs and interact with other dogs.

Here are some indoor, air-conditioned places you can take your dog in summer.

My Second Home

As the world’s largest indoor dog park, this pet resort is very popular with puppy parents. The space is equivalent to 18 tennis courts, two thirds of which are inside and include indoor play area, two swimming pools and a boarding suite.

Plot No 597-631, Dubai Investment Park-2, from Dhs150. Tel: (04) 881 8002.

Golden Mile Galleria

If you don’t fancy paying to give your dog a bit of exercise, get down to Golden Mile where you can let your pooch stretch their legs whilst keeping cool in the air-conditioned outlet. Galleria also has a pet shop and a veterinarian in case you need them.

Golden Mile Galleria, Palm Jumeirah, Sun to Thurs 10am to 10pm, Fri & Sat 10am to midnight. Tel: (04) 390 9999.

Chicago Meatpackers

This recent addition to The Pointe’s repertoire of restaurants and bars delighted dog owners when it announced it’s pet friendly. Not only are (well-behaved) dogs welcome inside the restaurant, puppy parents can even get a 15 per cent discount off the a la carte menu.

Chicago Meatpackers, The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah, daily, noon to midnight. Tel: (04) 580 7983.
