What’s On lists the best pizza takeaways restaurants in Abu Dhabi including 800 Pizza, Pizza Di Rocco, Il Forno and Pizzaro.

800 Pizza

Located in Paragon Mall on Reem Island, the pizzas here are good and worth exploring. Think gluten-free crusts, fresh ingredients and a lovely atmosphere if you decide to eat in (there’s a gurgling water feature and red checked tables set up outside the restaurant). We recommend the bresola and rocket pizza for a lighter tasting meal. Order early, as delivery can be slow.

Pizza Di Rocco

This adorably quaint restaurant on Salam Street serves up some unique non-traditional pizzas. If you like fusion dishes, check out the Arabic-inspired Laziza topped with halloumi and sumac-spiced roasted chicken or the Indian-inspired paneer tikka pizza served with mango chutney.

Salam Street, Al Dhafrah, Abu Dhabi, Sat to Wed 11am to midnight, Thur and Fri 11am to 2am, Dhs39 to Dhs55. Tel: (02) 6418300. Taxi: Corner of Salam Street and Al Falah Street. pizzadirocco.com

Biancorosso Italy

Ask any pizza connoisseur what their favourite pizza is, and chances are it’s the classic margherita. Why? Because the combination of cheese, tomato sauce and crust is what it’s all about. And one of the best margherita takeaways we’ve had is at this pizzeria, which is owned by Italians, in Al Nahyan, where less is certainly more.

Y Tower, Muroor Road, Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi, Sat to Thur 11am to 11pm, Fri 3pm to 11pm, Dhs42 to Dhs90. Tel: (02) 6584244. Taxi: Near Al Mamoura Building. biancorossoitaly.com

Il Forno

For a step up from the average mall pizza chain, this takeaway joint is a safe bet. There’s a ridiculous amount of options on the menu to try (and even more pasta options). For those who like a touch of sweetness with their pie, order the Hawaiano, which comes with pepperoni, turkey ham and pineapple.

Opposite Union National Bank, Khalidiyah, Abu Dhabi, daily 10am to midnight, Dhs31 to Dhs75. Tel: (02) 6337730. Taxi: Near Baskin and Robbins.

Pizza Amore

Low-key and basic, this hole-in-the-wall pizzeria in Al Zahiyah is surprisingly good. Rock bottom prices and a quick delivery service also help cement its status as a repeat order. Serving up a whopping 25 styles of pizza, we recommend you stick with the classics. We like the Parma, which sees a mozzarella pizza topped with four large rounds of eggplant, parmesan cheese and a dash of olive oil. It’s a touch oily due to the finishing drizzle, but in all the ways you want when the witching hour strikes.

Al Zahiyah, Abu Dhabi, daily 11am to 1am, Dhs23 to Dhs50. Tel: (02) 6449990. Taxi: Opposite Abu Dhabi Mall next to RAK Bank.

Pizzaro

Tucked away in the Spar supermarket building in Khalidiyah, the pizzas here tick all the boxes. A wood-fired oven, good-quality ingredients, decent prices and courteous staff that make ordering a breeze. While there is a nice dine-in seating area, the parking issues and fast delivery make this a good bet for a quick takeaway. Try the Vegetariana – it comes with oregano-grilled eggplant rounds, bell peppers and zucchini.

Spar Supermarket, Khalidiyah, Abu Dhabi, daily 11am to 1pm, Dhs38 to Dhs65. Tel: (02) 6673330. Taxi: Inside Spar Supermarket. pizzaro.me
