Sir Thomas Jones Woodward, aka Tom Jones, aka the king of sing-along tunes from the Sixties, will return to Abu Dhabi next April.

Playing at the du Forum on Yas Island on Friday April 15, the It’s Not Unusual crooner (who played in the capital three years ago) will be sure to play his classic hits, while also taking us through his most recent albums, this year’s Long Lost Suitcase, 2012’s Spirit in the Room and 2010’s Praise & Blame.

Fifty years into his career, the now 75-year-old Welshman is renowned for his continuing vocal power, his bold baritone and his easy charisma on stage.

Here’s a performance of Delilah from only three years ago that show just how much Mr Jones ‘has still got it’:

Here’s his epic goosebump-inducing 2012 hit Tower of Song:

And Honey Honey, a bluegrass-like duet with Imelda May from his most recent album:

Tickets for Tom Jones cost Dhs350 for general admission and Dhs450 for golden circle. They go on sale at 12pm on Tuesday November 24.

Some of our favourite ever Tom Jones quotes…

ON THE FACT THAT HE LIVES IN THE US BUT WILL ALWAYS BE WELSH: “If I really wanted to become an American citizen I would have done it a long time ago. I’m British and I have a British passport and if I can remain that way, that’s the way I like it.” Western Mail

ON ANOTHER WELSH LEGEND’S RELATIONSHIP TO HIS MUSIC: “One of my biggest compliments that I had was when Catherine Zeta Jones was giving birth to her first child, she had to have What’s New Pussycat, on the radio. As soon as she started, she said put Tom on and I’ll push.” The Voice

ON HIS WORKING CLASS ROOTS: “I think it’s good that I had some experience of the real world before I became successful. You know, having to get up in the morning and going to work in construction.”
