An illusionist, circus acts, Hollywood celebrities and Bollywood singers are coming to the capital

The line up for this year’s Abu Dhabi Summer Season was revealed today and will see big names from Hollywood and Bollywood come to the capital to perform during the hot summer months.

Hosted from July 7 to September 11, residents can expect theatre shows, comedy acts, concerts, children’s festivals and more hosted in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.

Highlights include the Middle Eastern premier of British illusionist Jamie Raven, who will perform on July 8 and 9 at Emirates Palace. This will be the first world tour for the performer, who gained fame while competing on the TV show Britain’s Got Talent last year.

For those looking to laugh, Hollywood star Marlon Wayans will be performing in the capital on August 19. Wayans is best known for his performances in Little Man, White Chicks, Scary Movie 1 and the recent 50 Shades of Black parody. While on August 25 comedy legends Cedric ‘The Entertainer’, George Lopez, Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley and Charlie Murphy will come together for one night only.

There’ll also be an Arabic comedy festival on September 9 and 10, which will feature Saudi Youtube personalities Fadi Al Shehri, Ibrahim Saleh and Ibrahim Khairallah. The lineup for day two includes Taim Al Falasi, Rajae Qawas, Darine Al Bayed and Fahad Al Butairi.

Circus act Cirque Adrenaline will perform on August 20 and 21 and will see trapeze artists, motorcyclists and contortionists perform stunts such as the Wheel of Death and the Sphere of Fear. Check out the video below, to get a glimpse of what will happen on stage.

Bollywood fans will have a lot to choose from, with concerts being hosted around India’s independance day. August 11 will see Shaan, the Indian playback singer and television host perform a selection of his most famous hits including “Roop Tera Mastana”. Singers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani will perform at the du Forum on August 12 and will be joined onstage by Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar. While on August 13, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa will take to the stage.

Expect a lot of family-friendly entertainment too. Confirmed shows include Alvin and the Chipmunks, Hello Kitty and Dinosaur Zoo Live. There’ll also be a month-long activation on Yas Island called Fun Nation that will host family themed workshops, celebrity appearances, exhibitions and more. For teenagers, check out the District, another month-long initiative that will host workshops and events on topics such as smart phone photography, music, fashion and nutrition.

In addition to the main programme, there will also be special promotions and discounts across the emirate’s hotels, malls and attractions. .
