See the spectacular tribute all lit up…

The Founder’s Memorial, a permanent tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has extended its opening hours for Ramadan.

The memorial, which is located at the corner of Corniche Road and 18th Street, will open from 9am to 2pm and 8pm to 1am daily throughout the holy month.

An art installation called “The Constellation” forms the centrepiece of the memorial. The design by public artist Ralph Helmick comprises 1,300 geometric shapes and 1,000 cables, which create a three-dimensional portrait of the late leader.

At night, these shapes shine like stars, evoking the timelessness of Sheikh Zayed’s vision as a guiding light for the UAE people.

Free guided tours by Emirati cultural guides are available in both Arabic and English, offering visitors to the memorial the chance to gain a better understanding of Sheikh Zayed, the causes he championed and the values he embodied.

While the welcome centre will be closed during the non-operating hours, visitors are welcome to stroll along the wider space including the Sanctuary and Heritage Gardens and the elevated walkway, which will remain open throughout Ramadan.

We can’t think of a better place to spend those late Ramadan evenings…
